Welcome to FibreZones website.

FibreZone is a division of Maxwell Furs Ltd and is located at 799 Colombo Street in Christchurch New Zealand.

Established in April 2007 by Graeme and Rosalie Maxwell the business is a  manufacturing and retail outlet where Graeme and Rosalie have combined their passion for natural fibre and classic style with Graemes skill and talent as a master furrier, to bring you the luxury of possum fur garments and accessories, the softness of the finest New Zealand Merino knitwear, the warmth and comfort of merino/possum knitwear, the sensuality of silk and other legendary fibres.

Graeme designs and makes fur garments using traditional methods that he learned as an apprentice to a Christchuch furrier by the name of David Langley who for many years ran a highly regarded business in High Street in Christchurch. Graeme completed his apprenticeship in the mid 1970's and continued to work in the industry for a number of years until the change in attitude to exotic fur made it unviable to continue .

As New Zealand has become more focused on ridding its forests of an introduced pest,the brushtail possum, its high quality fur has become more readily available and through the persistance of a few New Zealand tanneries  it is now available in a variety of fashionable colours.Graemes ability to craft this fur into stunning and luxurious garments and accessories adds value to an environmentally sustainable resource.
